Médecin spécialiste diplômé de l’Université Laval à Québec et de l’Université de Montréal, le Dr. Mottard est allé rendre service en Haïti et en Ouganda au début de sa carrière avant de revenir au Québec et de pratiquer la psychiatrie à l’Hôtel Dieu de St-Jérôme. Pendant près de 25 ans, le Dr. Mottard pratiquait au Pavillon Albert Prévost. Pionnier dans le domaine des maladies mentales, et plus particulièrement au niveau des premiers épisodes chez les jeunes, le Dr. Mottard était voué corps et âme au bien-être de ses patients, défendait farouchement leurs droits et libertés et prônait une approche personnelle à chacun d’eux.
